STATEMENT OF FAITH
God
We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three divine persons, Father,
Son, Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power
and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. Matthew 3:16,17;
John 14:16; 2 Corinthians 13:14.
The Father We believe that God the Father is eternal, immutable (unchanging),
omnipresence (present everywhere at once), omniscience (infinite in
knowledge), omnipotence (all powerful), and spiritual in nature. Psalm 139:7-10;
Isaiah 46:10; John 4:24; Titus 1:2; James 1:17.
The Son We believe that Jesus Christ, the divine eternal Son of God, became
man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and
born of the Virgin Mary and lived a sinless life; and that He accomplished our
redemption through His death (on the cross), burial, and resurrection (on the
third day) according to the Scriptures; and that He ascended to heaven and is
now exalted at the right hand of God; and that His return for His church, the
Body of Christ, which He will take to heaven is imminent; and that He will come to
this earth to set up His millennial kingdom. Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-4; 1
Corinthians 15:3,4; 1 Timothy 2:5,6; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:4-6.
The Holy Spirit We believe the Holy Spirit is the divine Person of the Godhead
who in the present age convicts sinners and regenerates, sanctifies, indwells,
seals, fills, empowers, comforts and guides the believer. John 14:16, 16:8-11;
Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Ephesians 1:13,14.
The Word of God
We believe that the Bible is the verbally (every word), the plenary (completely)
Word of God consisting of 66 books which constitute the Old and New
Testaments, inerrant in the original writings, the complete and unalterable,
special and preserved revelation of God, the final authority. It is the only rule of
faith and practice for the believer in Jesus Christ. Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:
16,17: Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:20,21; Revelation 22:19.
Man
We believe that God created man on the sixth literal day of creation in His image
and likeness; in Adam’s sin the race incurred not only physical death but also
spiritual death and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved
and unable to redeem his lost condition. Genesis 1:26,27; Psalm 51:5; Romans
3:22,23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3, 12.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the work of Jesus Christ; that it is a free gift of God
to all who will personally, by faith, accept Christ’s shed blood atonement for their
sins; that salvation is a personal relationship with God that saves men from past
penalty of sin, the present power of sin, and in the future from the very presence
of sin; and is kept by God’s power and thus eternally secure in Christ forever
(salvation cannot be lost); that at death the believer will be immediately in the
presence of God.
We further believe that the fate of the unbeliever is sealed at his death; and that
there is an appointed day of judgment for the wicked in which they will be cast
into the lake of fire, there to remain in everlasting torment. John 1:12, 5:24, 10:
28,29; Romans 6:23, 8:19-23; 2 Corinthians 5:8,21; Ephesians 2:8,9; 2
Thessalonians 1:7-9; Hebrews 7:25; 1 John 3:2, 5:17; Revelation 20:12-15, 21:8.
Church
We believe that the local church is an independent group of believers baptized
by immersion; that its members meet on a regular basis for fellowship,
exhortation, worship, evangelism, and preaching and teaching; and that the local
church shall be the pillar of the community.
We further believe that the local church is organized and may have for its
officers Pastors, Deacons, and other such leaders as God has given; and that
the members shall observe the ordinances taught in the New Testament of
baptism and Lord’s Supper and that we carry out the Great Commission. Acts 2:
1,41,47; 1 Corinthians 12:13, 11:23-29; 1 Timothy 3:1-8, 8-13; Hebrews 10:25;
Matthew 28:18-20.
Satan
We believe that Satan is a created being who sinned and became the arch
enemy of God and His creation; that he seeks to keep men from the Lord and to
weaken the testimony of Christians; that he is very strong but not omnipotent
and can be overcome by the power of God; that he has at his command a great
host of fallen angels and demons to carry out his purposes; and that his doom is
sealed in the Lake of Fire forever. Job 1:6,7; Isaiah 14:12-14; Matthew 25:41; 1
Peter 5:8; James 4:7; Revelation 20:10.
Last Things
We believe that the next event in God’s prophetic calendar is the pretribulational
rapture, which is the resurrection of the both the dead and living believers,
before the seven tribulation period. At the end of the seven year tribulation
period on earth, Christ will return to fight the battle of Armageddon in which He
conquers the nations of the earth and the forces of darkness. He will then set up
His kingdom for a thousand year reign called the millennium. Satan and his
workers of evil are cast into the bottomless pit for the thousand years. At the end
of the thousand years, there will be a final rebellion of Satan and men against
God which is put down and ends in Satan and all his workers being cast into the
Lake of Fire forever and the Great White Throne Judgment in which God judges
the unsaved and casts them into the Lake of Fire also. Then will be the
appearance of the new heaven and new earth and the heavenly city of
Jerusalem for the abode of the saved. 1 Corinthians 15:51-57; 1 Thessalonians
4:13-18; Revelation 4 - 19; Revelation 20:1-6, 20:7-10, 20:11-15, 21:1-22:5.
Separation
We believe that God expects Christians to be holy; that at salvation we become
a new creation and we are to put away the old way of life; and that God expects
us to continue putting off the old way of life and be putting on the new way.
We believe that each Christian is responsible to forsake all worldly practices; we
should walk in the world but we are not to be part of the world; and that we
should be consistently working at a good Christian testimony.
We further believe that the church is to follow the Scripture in practice of
separation from all forms of compromise with unbelief; that we are to fellowship
only with churches which follow Scriptural methods; that this means complete
separation from all forms of Humanism and Modernism; that we will not have any
part in a movement, or cooperative effort that is ecumenical in nature. 2
Corinthians 5:17, 6:14-7:1; Ephesians 4:22-24; 2 Thessalonians 3:14,15; Titus 3:
10; 1 John 2:14,15.
